WILLIAM KENTRIDGE : THE HORSE IS NOT MINE

I made this video at Tate Modern in their new exhibition spaces 'The Tanks'. It shows a little excerpt of William Kentridge's amazing 8-channel video installation "I am not me, the horse is not mine"(2008), which is a Russian saying used to deny guilt. With this piece, the South African artist explores the Russian avant-garde and presents his interpretation of Dmitry Shostakovich's 1928 opera 'The Nose'. The opera is based on a novel by Nikolai Gogol, describing an official's nose that escapes the man's face and starts a life on its own. The installation's soundtrack has been composed by Philip Miller
